There is a good reason why autonomous flying features have been an important component of this year’s significant drone announcements: many people aren’t that good at flying drones with what is basically an old school R/C plane remote control. The Shift Drone deals with that… not with autonomy, but with an epic new control system. To take a flight, you just get a stick-like box and put on a particular ring on your thumb, which drifts above the receptors on the top. Shift your thumb up to soar, left to flee left, and so on, providing you with instinctive single-handed control. There is a 13 mp/4K digital camera aboard, and an alternative extension enables you to regulate the camera and see live feed through your smartphone.
