Hyundai has again teamed up with some students from Turin’s famous Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) to develop a concept car as a part of a thesis program in transport design. The most recently released Hyundai Kite is a roofless, doorless, and windowless automobile that most directly looks like a dune buggy from an ultra-futuristic computer game. Designed with a monocoque framework measuring 12 feet by 5 feet, and driven by several brushless engines in the rims, it is a capable enough crawler to handle all but the most frightening dunes. The water’s advantage is where the Kite becomes fascinating though, as this competent buggy concept also transforms into a single-seat jet-ski run by a water jet turbine. Ultimately, it is only a concept, so we’re pleased just daydreaming about the potential.
